It’s basically an HDTV-like viewing experience in the palm of your hand. I’m too much of video quality snob to ever have been legitimately interested in watching movies or television on a handheld device, but I can honestly say that I would willingly watch just about anything on the Galaxy’s screen.

Normally, LCDs use several layers of optical devices to colorize, polarize, PA3356U-1BRS,and shutter light from a backlight, and inefficiencies emerge at every step. Now researchers at the University of Michigan have made an optical film that promises to boost the overall efficiency of LCDs.

The centrepiece of the Lenovo IdeaCentre B300 is its 20-inch widescreen display. It supports a resolution of 1600x900 pixels and is matte in nature. The screen is very well lit, nice and bright, and has good viewing angles. Watching movies isn’t as great compared to the glossy displays of the Dell(Dell Studio 14 Battery) Studio One 19 and MSI Wind Top AE2220 desktops, but still pretty good. However, the Lenovo IdeaCentre B300’s screen doesn’t support touch input.

Now, the Asus EeePC 1215N picks up where its predecessor leaves off, jamming in a nettop processor (specifically, the Intel Atom D525) into a netbook frame. It's a speedy netbook, and even more so with Nvidia's Ion graphics. Just don't expect VGP-BPS5 Battery life to be anywhere near that of the Toshiba mini NB305-N410.

Sandy Bridge architecture chips are earmarked for production this year, still, with Intel announcing PCs with the tech could be hitting stores as before the middle of next year. What’s particularly unique about Sandy Bridge chips is that they represent the very first time Intel will ship integrated chips – a CPU and GPU on one chipset. While its present day Westmere has the CPU and GPU on one silicone base, it is still, in fact, two chips. 

The Lenovo IdeapPad Y560D features the latter, accompanied by some heavy-duty parts. An Intel quad-core processor and powerful ATI graphics are tailored for performance and gaming enthusiasts, though Lenovo IdeaPad Y550 Battery life was hampered by these same parts. With this much money at stake, though, I'd rather you get the version with the Blu-ray drive instead of the gimmicky 3D feature.

The Samsung R540-11 desktop replacement laptop is as performance-packed as its predecessor, providing more graphics power this time around—albeit at the expense of BTP-58A1 Battery life. It's a legitimate runner up to the R580, but I'd rather you invest your money in the HP Pavilion dv7-4083cl.

All of these machines are fantastic, although they are very different from one another.  It is always a good idea to make a list of the features that really matter to you – such as graphics performance, power, Inspiron 1520 Battery life, the inclusion of an optical drive, and the price – and find a model that ticks all of the right boxes for your lifestyle.

The Lenovo(Lenovo Y450 Battery) IdeaCentre B300 all-in-one desktop PC has a pronounced screen bezel all around. Below the screen are placed the desktop’s twin onboard speakers and a row of buttons to adjust the IdeaCentre B300 screen’s brightness or to switch it off. Optical drive is situated on the desktop’s right edge and some connectivity ports are placed on the B300’s left edge. Heat vents are situated near the top of the screen’s back panel. A very well designed all-in-one desktop PC, the Lenovo IdeaCentre B300, and well built as well.

Battery life is pretty rubbish on the A665-11Z. We know this isn't exactly a super-portable machine, but still, only 51 minutes and 43 seconds of BTP-63D1 Battery life (according to our Battery Eater Classic test) with the CPU at a constant 100% isn't very impressive. Storage, on the other hand, isn't so paltry thanks to a 500GB hard drive. The A665-11Z is running on 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium.

ePub has quickly become the JPEG of electronic publishing. Amazon is starting to look pretty damned foolish foolish for failing to get on the bus. It’s true that many of those e-book-creation tools can spit out a Kindle book as easily as an ePub, but the momentum is clearly moving towards the open standard.

The system comes with an industry-standard one-year parts-and-labor warranty, and Gateway(Gateway SQU-715 Battery) offers 24/7 toll-free tech support. Good luck finding the tech-support number, though, as Gateway doesn’t make it easy to locate.

The battery life average was 5 hours, 5 minutes. Coming in just under that, for fourth place, was the Samsung Epic 4G, at 5 hours, 34 minutes, followed by the HTC Evo 4G at 5 hours, 27 minutes. The Samsung(Samsung X60 Battery) Vibrant finished in sixth, at 4 hours, 44 minutes, and in seventh place — putting in 10 more seconds than the HTC Incredible — was the Samsung Captivate, with a battery life of 4 hours and 43 minutes.

Does the MacBook make sense when compared to the MacBook Pro? That depends. Some like to point out that the Pro has 4GB of RAM, and that this means the actual price gap between the MacBook(MacBook Pro 15" Batteries) and the Pro is only $90 dollars. I don’t agree, as this requires you “spend money to save money” – a rather perverse idea. The question is actually simple. Do you need what the MacBook Pro offers?

Perhaps even more interesting is that at first glance it appears VGP-BPS2C Battery life will be somewhat comparable between the two platforms. When we start to talk about pricing, AMD really has a case to make, but we'll save that for the conclusion. Suffice it to say that in terms of pure application performance, AMD's Nile platform is at least a viable alternative to Intel. It's slightly faster than the old CULV with slightly better pricing, and it's generally less expensive than the Arrandale ULV laptops we've seen so far.

Controls are small and difficult to operate, which leads to a lot of jabbing at the screen. At times you get fed up and just use the trackpad. Sony wants the Vaio Z Notebook to be a safe and secure place for all your most precious documents. When you turn on your Notebook, you will be prompted to supply a fingerprint for quick authentication and secure access. Simply place your finger on the scanner. The trackpad is a really nifty part of the laptop. The entire trackpad clicks when you click the bottom left or right, which is very similar to the MacBook Pro(MacBook Pro 17" Battery). Additionally, when you come into contact with the bottom left or right of the trackpad, it glows. This is a unique feature, but not something you would call useful.

But Lenovo(Lenovo ThinkPad X61 Battery) shines in this area as well. Except for a trial version of Microsoft Office, the PC was relatively uncluttered. It even included a few useful utility programs, notably the Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox, which provides diagnostics, system information, and access to various support options.

Storing it full could create loss of BTP-AMJ1 Battery capacity as well. Last, make sure your notebook’s settings are in an optimal place. But that noted, I like the M101z a lot. Decent video playback, combined with enough power to run key apps without flinching, Inspiron 11z Battery,makes it useful. The wonderful keyboard and touchpad make it easy to use. And while it could use a little more muscle and a lot more juice, it is a little tiny laptop for under $600. I'm happy to take it adventuring.

After having been steeped in Android 2.1 for so long, Froyo was a refreshing change. Aesthetically, not much has changed with Android 2.2, but it's the behind-the-scenes action that really made our navigation experience better. The first thing we noticed was that the Motorola Droid 2 was faster. Faster when it came to launching applications, faster in the Internet Browser, and faster typing with the keyboard.

The computers used in these conditions have to be "ruggedised" models: that means toughened screens, aluminium or magnesium body casing, shock-protected hard drives and spill-proof keyboards designed to take much more than a spot of cappuccino froth.

The HP 4425s has an HDMI port, which is a feature you won't find in the Dell(Dell Studio 14 Battery) 3300 and Dell E5510. One of the 4 USB ports doubles as an eSATA port, in case you want to expand storage beyond the included 500GB drive. Other features include Ethernet, a 5-in-1 card reader, VGA, and a 2 Megapixel webcam.

Google Chrome OS is being created for people who spend most of their time on the web, and is being designed to power computers ranging from small netbooks FPCBP175 to full-size desktop systems.” The Chrome OS is further described as: “While there are areas where Google Chrome OS and Android overlap, we believe choice will drive innovation for the benefit of everyone, including Google.”

For those that like big screens and big keyboards, take a look at the Samsung(Samsung R70 Batteries) R780. This 17.3-inch machine has both in abundance, looks rather smart and performs well. We reviewed the more expensive Blu-ray version, but a non-Blu-ray one can be had for £630 with a Core i3 processor, 4GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive.

Acer(Acer BTP-58A1 Battery) has taken great pains to highlight the Ferrari One's audio-playback credentials. It ships with a pair of integrated stereo speakers, which sound pretty decent for a netbook, and its sound card can handle Dolby Home Theater v3, which features Dolby Digital Live, Dolby Pro Logic IIx and, more usefully for a netbook, Dolby Headphone. The latter produces a fairly realistic 5.1-channel surround-sound effect in any set of cans.

According to a survey this year by the National Association of College Stores, which represents campus bookstores, digital textbooks accounted for only 2.8 percent of $5.8 billion in sales of new, used and electronic textbooks last year, and that's expected to grow to more than 10 percent by 2012. About 15 percent of college courses offered digital textbooks last year, according to NACS.

The Droid 2 also comes with Swype, the virtual keyboard that allows you to ‘type’ words by dragging your finger across the letters that it spell it. Although it may sound like a gimmick, PA3612U-1BRS, it’s actually a much better and faster way to type – and there’s a certain joy about seeing the Swype software figure out some complex word that you’ve tried to type out.

Sagar specialise in releasing customised gaming laptops and mobile workstations, for people who need all the power of a desktop in a mobile environment.  The NP9285 features a fast quad core Intel i7 processor, AS07A71 Battery, the lightning fast graphics of Nvidia GTX480M 2GB, and a large 17 inch WUXGA display.  All of this power does come at a cost however, with a weight of 12 pounds and a rather hefty price tag to match.

With power-efficient dual-core CPUs offering similar or better performance and longer SQU-410 Battery life, the L645D’s triple-core CPU really just gives it an intriguing bullet point on the feature list. That said, we didn’t see any unacceptable stutters or stalls in performance, either, so if you’re sold on this system already—or you see it at a deep discount—it's a sound-enough everyday-computing option. Just don't expect too much from the power of three.

And even though its size and weight may seem like it isn't travel-friendly, the dv7-4083cl's 4 hours 45 minute score on MobileMark 2007 is better than the competition. The Gateway NV7915u, Samsung R540-11 (3:07), and Samsung R580 couldn't hold a candle to it. The Studio 17 also bundles a big Studio 1737 Battery, and managed 4:23 in the same test.

Rounding out the rest of the connectivity is the aforementioned USB port and an Ethernet port. Like the USB port, the Ethernet port can't be used to stream files from your computer; it's dedicated to accessing firmware updates and pulling Blu-ray-specific content off the Internet.

The extended warranty however, will protect your Laptop against any and all damages and defects incurred during the life of the warranty, typically between 2-4 years. This means that if a year and a half down the road the cheap hard drive that HP(HP NX6120 Battery) placed in your laptop dies out, you can call the company that you purchased your warranty from and either get your laptop repaired, get it replaced, or get your money back (less the money spent purchasing the warranty). And in most cases, the cost of the warranty is less than even the cost of buying the replacement part, let alone the cost to have it replaced.

Despite the laptop having Dolby Advanced Audio processing the front-firing Altec Lansing-branded stereo speakers sound thin and far from immersive. They're fine for casual listening at reasonable volumes, but if you intend to use this as an entertainment system,Fujitsu FPCBP198, you'll want to grab a set of external speakers. Lastly, located above the screen is a Webcam and microphone, which worked well in our Skype video tests.

The Tocco Lite is available with a high-end 3.2 MP camera which allows you to capture the images at the resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. If you like to capture the images of smiling faces then you can use the smile-detection feature of the handset. Internet can be accessed with the help of GPRS, PA3399U-1BRS,by taking the support of network service providers. WAP and HTML supported browser facilitates you to do the smart browsing.

Make sure the computer is properly secured. I’d recommend a Kensington lock but only if you can get your kid to use it. Maybe reminding them that they will be buying the next one or working out of the library if they don’t lock it up will help that.

There are no real surprises in the ports and connections on the Acer(Acer Aspire 3000 Battery) Aspire D260, or in its RAM and hard drive, but we were pleasantly surprised to find the latest version of Intel's Atom CPU. The 1.8GHz Intel Atom N475 is technically a faster chip than the 1.6GHz N450 version found in most Netbooks, at least on paper.

Other laptops in the Acer TimelineX 4820T series advertise an 8 hour battery life and weigh 4.7lbs with a smaller, slimmer BATCL50L Battery. I haven’t gotten the 4820T-3697 it to stretch out quite to 11.5 hours, because I generally have the computer set to high performance, with the display on its brightest setting with wi-fi turned on, and I am generally doing processor intense tasks, but even with those settings I’ve gotten an average of 6 to 8 hours of battery life.

Also, the buttons on the top edge for turning the Streak on and off and for taking pictures are very close together and easily confused for each other. And the camera button eventually stopped working for me altogether. The speaker, located on the back, VGP-BPS12 Battery, sounded tinny when playing music. And it was too easy to block the rear camera with a thumb or finger when holding the Streak naturally.

So you’ve finally decided on a laptop that fits all your needs. It’s the right size, has the NUMPAD on the side, doesn’t weight too much and it’s a sweet shade of charcoal gray. Now that you’re ready to dish out on the system, it’s time to consider everything else you’re going to need to work at maximum efficiency.

HP(HP NX6120 Battery) also makes the default behavior of the function keys at the top of the keyboard the actual functions, such as adjusting the volume, brightness, or wireless settings.

The Power Widget remains one of my favorite Android feature. With it, I can turn WIFI, GPS, etc... ON and OFF with one tap, from the desktop,Fujitsu FPCBP160, and that saves me power, while keeping all these features at my disposal when I need them. This is great and I wish that the iPhone 4 would have it.

There's also no USB port or support for other popular file formats like DivX, which is nearly standard on portable DVD players. The B100 comes with a car charger and standard AC power adapter, but no means to attach the unit to a headrest.

One of the best things about the Dell Studio 15 laptop is its keyboard -- optional backlit upgrade available. The Dell(Dell Studio 1555 Battery) Studio 15’s keyboard has full-sized, well-defined keys that have a fine finish on top and are superb to type on. The keyboard’s keys are tightly knit, aren’t flat-top like the ones on the Acer Aspire TimelineX 4820TG, and one of the best we’ve seen on a mainstream laptop.

The system operates on commercial, solar, generator or battery power. The battery charges while the system is running on commercial, solar or generator power. It takes about two hours to fully recharge the Inspiron 630m Battery. When fully charged, the battery provides about eight hours of operation. Solar-power operation is optional; such systems are provided with a larger battery.

These five tips should provide a good starting point when deciding which laptop or notebook computer to buy. There are, of course, PA3535U-1BRS,other factors like processor speed and screen resolution that can be considered, but the advice on such features is simple: get the best that can be afforded. Technology tends to advance quickly, so better speed initially will allow the computer to stay current longer.

With regards to the screen’s actual performance, we were disappointed relative to our expectations. Additionally, the viewing angle is respectable along the horizontal plane. Where it is not so impressive is on the vertical plane, with colour and brightness being lost with the slightest movement.

With its excellent battery, very usable keyboard and striking design, the MSI(MSI Wind U100 Battery) Wind U160 is one of the better notebooks we’ve seen recently. The screen is a little low res, but if you’re looking for a portable computer for day-to-day tasks, this is well worth a look.

Once again, ASUS(Asus A32-W7 Battery) disappointed us by including way too much bloatware on this laptop. There are 11 extra bloatware icons on the Windows desktop when you first turn on the laptop. As far as we're concerned, the desktop should be clean when you buy a new PC.

There are close to 75 processes running in the background when you first start Windows, and with that much stuff going on in the background you better believe it has a negative impact on performance. After you spend some time uninstalling the junk from the hard drive you'll notice a little more "snappiness" from the system.

On our Windows Media Encoder multimedia trial, in which the test machine encodes a standard sample video, the three Lenovo(ThinkPad T60 Battery) stable mates were mere seconds apart, with the T10 needing 4 minutes even and the other two needing 4:08 to finish the test task. Those results are ahead of all others in the class, save again for the HP EliteBook 8440w, which finished in 3:54.

Interestingly, Intel looks to be shunning Android - at least, for now - despite work carried out to get Google's mobile platform working on x86 hardware, BTP-AOJ1 Battery,with the only operating system mentioned in the document being the Linux-based MeeGo. Also notable in its absence is any mention of Windows Phone 7 - currently only available for ARM-based hardware.

The Designer is already on shelves almost anywhere you look. Looking at Google shopping confirms this as all of the major e-tailers and a lot of those that aren’t have them for sale. Pricing does vary; I see the Designer listed for between $20 and $30. Right smack in the middle of the price listings I see the Designer is listed at Newegg for $24.99. With that there is a $4.99 shipping charge, so even here the total is just below $30 to get the Designer.

The ASUS(Asus A42-V6 Battery) U33JC features stereo speakers located just below the palm rests on the bottom front edge of the notebook. The speakers sound absolutely fabulous when the laptop is resting on a hard surface like a desk as the sound bounces up off the desk and toward the user. Unfortunately, the sound isn't as good if you're using this notebook as a "laptop."

The specifics, at any rate, aren’t really important until the details of the material Apple coveted are made public (if they aren’t already). The important part is that Apple(Apple A1012 Battery) is continuing to make large investments in the area of anomalous materials so that their products can retain the anomaly cachet.

The Dell(Inspiron 1750 Battery) Inspiron N4010 is an entry-level laptop in terms of hardware, performance and functionality, but, in terms of aesthetics, this one is a head turner for sure. As a matter of fact, it’s the aesthetics and overall design that make it a total winner. What’s most exciting is the price, it retails for about Rs 35,800.

As for durability, in addition to the metal exoskeleton, the E6410 features a spill-resistant keyboard. The hard drive is protected with a shock absorber,  Latitude E6500 Battery,and all spinning drives also feature active protection circuitry that parks the hard drive heads in the event of bumps and drops. These features are similar to the business-rugged designs of other laptops; if you need more, opt for the E6410 ATG model, a true semi-rugged machine designed for field use.

German site Computerbase has posted what it claims is the first list of Intel's up-coming Sandy Bridge-based processors - and there are some interesting chips for both desktop and laptop use.

Speaking of pictures, viewing shots on the X10 Mini and Mini Pro is surprisingly good. When browsing in landscape, PA3356U-1BRS, the whole album tilts in a pretty funky way depending on how much inertia you throw into scrolling. Zooming is also really nice and intuitive; just hold your finger in one spot until it vibrates, and you move your finger up or down to zoom in or out, centered on the spot you touched.

And, despite the larger physical size of the Streak's display, its screen resolution, which governs sharpness and how much content can fit on a screen, is lower than even the iPhone 4's much smaller screen, and is too low to display high-resolution video (though an optional dock can output hi-res video to a TV.)

Anyway, if these Laptop Batteries really do what they say they do -- granted, it'll take three years to fully test the no-degredation claim, although a year or so will start to tell the tale -- mobile productivity and TCO has just gotten somewhat better.

Its 5-megapixel rear camera took sharp photos and fair videos, and phone calls sounded clear. The large screen was a big plus for Google's free voice-prompted navigation app. Battery life was very good, easily lasting a full day, and the UM09E71 Battery is removable.

The designer is made from all plastic on the outside. The top is silver and has venting to allow the blower type fan inside to draw air from the bottom of the laptop FPCBP182 and push the air out the back of the bottom of the cooler. Think stock GPU fan on a larger scale.

Under the laptop’s lid are a number of indicators sprinkled generously around the keyboard. These include the UM08A74 Battery, power, Num Lock, HDD, communication, and Caps Lock indicators. A user-programmable key and PowerSmart button for cajoling the device into energy-efficient mode are placed on the top right hand corner above the keyboard.

Second, the Windows Explorer function is handled by a utility called ReelTime, which previews documents, PA3456U-1BRS,photos and  videos. The alt-tab key combination, which is extremely useful when we multitask, is now achievable with a custom file browser. Two buttons below the lower screen call up the screen keyboard and the Bulletin Board, respectively.

You can purchase adapters for supported video formats from Apple,” the document reads. This brings MacBook customers the same abilities exist today in Apple(Apple A1012 Battery)’s MacBook Pro line. Previous Mac models with Mini DisplayPort required a separate cable to deliver audio output to a TV in addition to using HDMI to deliver video, either using the optical or analog mini jack output. Other connectors include a Gigabit Ethernet, two USB ports and audio out.

System integration issues must also be addressed and electronic circuitry must be connected to drive the modulators at Gbit/s rates. "This is going to generate a lot of heat locally," said Prof Islam. "It is not clear what the strategy will be to keep the devices unchanged physically, optically and electrically."

The real issue comes down to gaining share in that market otherwise known as personal preference and habit. Could the tablet computer PA3465U-1BRS become the platform of choice for more everyday tasks, such as checking e-mail, sharing documents and accessing the Web, thereby further cutting into the time we used to spend slavishly glued to our desktop computers?

A powerful but not top-of-the-line Nvidia GeForce GT 335M graphics card with 1GB of RAM is the M11x's real secret weapon, giving it enough gaming power to handle most mainstream titles. The older version of the M11x used switchable graphics to alternate between discrete power and AS07A71 Battery -saving integrated Intel graphics, but the software switch was manually operated.

Recently, Acer(Acer BATCL32L Battery), along with Intel, announced its new Aspire Timeline X series of notebooks, which are revamped versions of the previous ULV-based models that were launched last year. On Tuesday, there were mainly two models showcased, the Timeline X 4820TG and the 4820T. These laptops have stepped out of the ULV category, straight into the mainstream laptop segment, but only in terms of hardware. Therefore, they are still light in weight (about 2.2 Kg), slick in design (1.1-inch in thickness), and offer tremendous battery backup.

Just as important is the fact that the Streak's phone, photo and video capabilities allow for some features you won't find on other tablets — including text messaging, video calling (which we tested using Fring), and mobile photo and video uploads.

The Satellite M645 features a great range of ports--making this laptop one of the more "future proof" 14-inch notebooks we've recently reviewed. You get two USB 2.0 ports and a combo eSATA/USB 2.0 port in case you want to use fast external storage drives. The M645 also features dual video out ports: a VGA connection for old-school projectors and HDMI for new monitors and HDTVs. More importantly, Toshiba PA3400U-1BRS,the M645 includes an ExpressCard slot so you can upgrade this laptop with USB 3.0 ports if you need them. All picture descriptions are left to right.

HP(HP NX7400 Battery) updated the touchpad on the 4520s from the older 4510s, with the notebook now including a button-free Synaptics ClickPad. The primary difference is a larger surface to use for making gestures and a cleaner appearance without additional buttons. With that said, we experienced some difficulties adjusting to the new format.

Not surprisingly the scientific statistical analyses applied revealed that elderly over sixty-five living alone in metropolitan areas with broadband Internet FPCBP175 available and sufficient household incomes to support the increased costs were identified as those most likely to adopt initially.

“It’s a new enough technology that we are just getting into how they can best be supported and secured,” said Rob Glenn, chief of information technology security at the Networking Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technologies. The display has a high-resolution as well, which is appreciated. With a full HD resolution, it’s  easy to view two windows side-by-side without shrinking them too much. The higher resolution also helps bring out the finer details in games and reduces the amount of scrolling necessary while surfing the Web.

The chassis feels very strong and when the notebook is closed it feels stiff enough to stand on (though we don't recommend standing on it). Dell(Dell Inspiron 510m Battery) did an excellent job perfecting the solid frame and really nailed it with the precise fit of the body panels. Every panel is securely held in place with even gaps around mating surfaces. The panels themselves feel durable and resist flexing under moderate pressure. The only surface on the notebook that seems to have any flex is the keyboard tray that flexes slightly under strong pressure.

Inside, the palmrest and keyboard show little or no flex under pressure. The palmrest doesn't compress one millimeter when squeezed with extreme force. The rigid chassis does a good job of holding up the body panels attached to it and doesn't squeak or creak under normal use. The screen hinges feel strong and hold the screen tightly closed. Overall, the body feels solid enough to survive a typical notebook's lifespan.

HP(HP NX7400 Battery) includes a moderately-sized Synaptics touchpad on the dv6z which feels very responsive with little lag. The entire touchpad surface is made of a high gloss plastic, and can sometimes be hard to use depending on how dry or oily your fingertip happens to be. The surface needs to collect some of your finger's natural oils to allow for easy movement on the touchpad.
